Responding to Nigel Farage’s speech at Reform UK’s conference, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:
“Taxpayers will warmly welcome Nigel Farage’s pledges to drive down energy bills, cut welfare spending and crack down on illegal immigration.
“Just as pleasing was the Reform UK leader’s unequivocal denouncement of the politics of envy, which has driven out high net wealth individuals and shifted the tax burden onto the middle classes.
“But for a prospective party of government the next step is to fill in the blanks with detailed policy announcements, which taxpayers will want urgently addressed given the scale of the crisis. The public have lost patience with politicians promising the world and failing to deliver.”
